The Invasion of Talkeetna

The first tendrils of consumption reach out into the Cataegis Sector, a familiar foe stands strong in defiance.

As I spoke about in my previous post, I LOVE the way Sigmar's Blood is laid out. You get an interesting campaign, mixed into a great slow paced motivation plan to get an army or two, plus scenery built and painted!

So I'm mixing up some of my painting Hobby goals and rolling them into these new two: One) to create a 40k styled Sigmar's Blood featuring Tyranids & Ultramarines and Two) To actually take part in it fully.

So I've put some ideas and plans together already, and I have enough to create the first 'Mission' which I'm going to put into a nice pretty format using inDesign and then go ahead and start painting my way through it!

So far this is what I've come up with for the first mission.

OVERALL STORY

Hive Fleet Otachi has entered Segmentum Tempestus below the galactic plane like its parent Fleet Leviathan. Having entered the Cataegis Sector through Sub Sector Jadranova and eaten through two planets already, it was briefly halted by the Mechanicum at the Forgeworld E1. Although they were unable to prevent the onslaught on Otachi, they were able to conduct important and extensive research and biological samples on the Hive Fleet. Before the Forgeworld was overwhelmed the research was sent via a rag tag flotilla to the ice planet Talkeetna in the neighboring Sub Sector of Sisak, where a resistance by the Second Company of Ultramarine Chapter was being mounted to the Hive Fleet's relentless march forward. As the remnants of the Mechanicum fleet arrived at Talkeetna, their shouts of relief turned quickly to shouts of despair as the realization that they had been beaten to the planet by the Hive Fleet sunk in.

MISSION 1

The Aquila Lander, trusted with carrying the precious biological matter has been forced to make an emergency landing at the closest outpost on the planet, after it and its escorts were attacked by numerous winged tyranid monstrosities.

The Ultramarine detachment, under the watchful eyes of Scout Sergeant Telion, must move quickly to the reckage to retrieve what they can before the ravages of the crash destroys all that was fought so hard for. Of course that isn't all that stands in the way of the Adeptus Astartes.

Ultramarine Force (347)

Tactical Squad, 5 additional men, Plasma Gun, Heavy Bolter, Power Fist
Scout Sqaud, 4 additional men, Camo Cloaks, Telion, 7x Sniper Rifles, 1x Heavy Bolter

Tyranid Force (350)

Manufactorum Genestealers Formation (Rising Leviathan Ebook)
[This formation contains 5x Genestealer broods, no additional genestealers are able to be added to any brood]

That's all I have so far, I've got an idea for the scenery I will need, but we currently have guests in our guest rooms, which is where I normally set up Hobby Shop. So the rest of the mission planning is on hold. In terms of models I have all the Ultramarines built, mostly based, and for my Manufactorum Genstealers I've been playing Ebay and have managed to pick up enough of the Space Hulk 3rd edition Stealers to have them all built from them!

I really think this is my way forward hobby wise. I'll continue to make these missions and campaigns to encourage me to paint my many many armies, but I do hope GW makes more supplements like Sigmar's Blood (i see an Empire Army in future, so that I can use this book!)
